Nice One 👻 Here's Your Bonus Task...
Sense check your user journey
Even if your website is working properly, people still need guidance through your site.
If they get confused or frustrated, they’ll probably leave the site. You need to show them where to go to make a purchase or contact you — don’t expect your visitors to be mind readers!
This path through your site is known as a user journey.
Ways to check your user journey
- Are all of your key pages in your main menu? Are they organised in a way that makes sense to a new visitor?
- Does each main section of your site end with a button?
- Do you have a button or a call-to-action (CTA) link in key places where you’d like visitors to do something?
For example, if you’re telling people to get in touch, do you have a link or button going to your contact page? Don’t make someone scroll all the way back to the menu to go to that page.
- Ask someone else to do a task on your website — make a booking, buy something, sign up for your mailing list — and watch them do it. Is it easy? Does it take them longer than you’d expect?
